Jean-Michel Basquiat was one of the first to legitimize graffiti art, often focusing on social dichotomies such as wealth vs. poverty, integration vs. segregation, and inside vs. outside. He died of a heroine overdose at the age of 27 inducting himself into the 27 club. Here is my interpretation of one of his paintings, Philistines.
